Small Dog - Feeding Recommendations

Smaller dogs will have a baseline
they need and should consume at least
¼ pounds per day.
Our foods are very dense & highly digestible,
pets get more nutrition
with every bite.

Puppies will consume on average 4 - 8% of their weight daily in food and should be fed 3-4 times per day. This supports their fast growth cycle and heightened metabolism. We find that it is not necessary to feed puppies a different food than the adults because we start with the best ingredients. When you start with high-quality foods, it is good for everyone, both young and old.

DOG ACTIVITY

Extremely active dogs may require more while less active dogs may require slightly less. These are recommendations only. Your dog's needs may differ, and there is no substitute for monitoring the health & weight of your dog on a regular basis.

Meal Plan Recommendation

Smaller dogs tend to be pickier, we recommend going with variety in your selection, and 6 tubs can last up to 2 whole weeks.

Proper Food Handling

Our foods come frozen and should remain frozen until they are ready to be consumed. Food should be frozen or refrigerated at all times. We recommend using the food in the container within 5 days of defrosting. The best method of defrosting is to use your refrigerator. It will take approximately 24 - 48 hours to fully defrost using the fridge depending upon the temperature of your fridge.

Some clients choose to use the microwave to defrost, which is fine as we package in microwave-safe containers. The microwave is not our preferred method as it does, to some extent, negate the delicate cooking process we use. Always remember though, using the microwave definitely beats having a hungry puppy, which is why we mention it as an option.

Never refreeze food once it has fully defrosted or allow foods to sit at room temperature for extended periods of time. Follow proper food handling techniques as you would follow for yourself. Exercise common sense when handling any type of fresh food product. Follow proper sanitation methods with your dog's bowl and other items that may come in contact with the food.
